Hello Center School Families,
Just a few news items for November…
- Elementary teachers are participating in professional development today. The focus is the power and importance of mathematical reasoning. Pat DeAngelis from the Collaborative for Educational Services is the facilitator. Our teachers have been engaged in ongoing math professional development with Pat on Monday afternoons when they explore major ideas of math with one another as well as examine how students develop their mathematical thinking.
- On Friday our 3rd and 4th grade students were taught about the electoral process by our 5th grade students. Our special guests at the assembly were community leaders Marty O’Shea, Representative Brian Ashe, and Senator Eric Lesser. The 5th graders' goal for their presentation was to help our students understand the importance of participating in our democracy through the election of our president. Our community leaders enriched the presentation as they discussed leadership and their experiences and responsibilities as citizens and leaders in their respective roles. Kudos to our community leaders, 5th grade student leaders and their teachers for their sharing!!
- We held our school election yesterday. The students came to the "polling booths" run by our 5th graders in the Community Room; and voted electronically for President. The school election provided a nice follow up to the 5th grade assembly. Your child likely shared the results with you! http://centertechnology.blogspot.com/
- Please remind your child to check the lost and found for items and please mark a name on all items. Also, cold weather clothing is necessary for outdoor recess.
