Happy Friday Center School Families,

I’m thrilled to announce to you that GRAMMY nominated performer Justin Roberts will be at Center School to perform for our community on Monday, November 16th!!

As described on his website:  “With numerous national awards and recognition and a devoted fan base, Justin and The Not Ready for Naptime Players dish out unexpectedly intelligent and whimsically rocking music for kids and their parents. His latest album, Recess has already garnered praise from People Magazine and the New York times as well as top awards from Parents’ Choice, NAPPA, and the Fids and Kamily Music Poll.”

Justin will do two performances in the morning; and then spend the afternoon with our fifth graders to talk about the creative writing process for music and books.

Here’s a link to his website to learn more about Justin’s creative work.

Our media specialist Lynne Elfeky was awarded a LEEF grant for the 2015-16  school year ,which will fund Justin’s visit.  Mrs. Elfeky’s goal through the grant is to inspire young student writers, to provide student writing enrichment and to enhance creative literacy at Center School.

Justin will share his artistic creativity through his music and through his literature. I’m deeply grateful to Mrs. Elfeky for her work to develop the grant ; and to LEEF for their generous funding.  Hope you have tickets to the upcoming LEEF Gala, which will support the ongoing funding of enrichment opportunities for our students!

Attached is an order form if you are interested in purchasing any CD’s before the visit. Justin’s book The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Grade is also available to order. This is the book I read to the staff to introduce our Peace Builders curriculum. Justin will read the story to the students during his performance.  The story has a powerful message about our hope and vision for the community we wish to be for each child and adult.

I hope you  enjoy a wonderful fall weekend. My thanks to our Book Fair volunteers, with special thanks to Sue Kleeman and Melissa Cybulski for their time intensive efforts. Well done!

Kind regards,

Donna Hutton, Principal
